Hill's Prescription m/d as a low-carb solution for cats? Hill's Prescription diet m/d has only 15% carbs as fed, 48% protein, with 20% fat. My cat isn't obese... but maybe this is an option to transition a cat into a solely wet food diet eventually. Any ideas? here are the ingredients: Dehydrated chicken and turkey protein, maize gluten meal, animal fat, ground maize, dehydrated beef and pork greaves, cellulose, rice protein concentrate, digest, L-lysine hydrochloride, potassium chloride, calcium sulphate, L-carnitine, taurine, ground rice, salt, vitamins and trace elements.

low carb diet birthday solutions, what sweets can you have? Dad's trying to think of options to have. Are any puddings suitable to have? Cakes? Danish? Brownies?
I started a low carb diet, and I'm craving Mexican food (tortillas mostly) and chocolate, please help!? I'm on a diet that allows 20 or less carbs a day. The first part of my question is, someone told me you could loose a pound a day, but I keep reading about people who don't loose more than 6 pounds in a month. Is that true? Secondly, I'm craving chocolate and carnitas (those pork dishes on tortillas). (NOT TOGETHER, OF COURSE... chocolate wouldn't be terrific with pork). Is there any no/low carb solutions for these?
What desserts if any have the lowest amount of carbs? I saw that the Dunkin Donuts Cheese Danishes have 37 carbs, would the store made danishes have less than DD? I'd like to know because we're celebrating a birthday, and need to find a low carb solution.
Low Carb to Weight Watchers? I have been doing Atkins since February and have lost almost 70 pounds (yipee)! However, I know this is not a long term solution and was thinking of joining Weight Watchers to continue my weight loss while being able to eat all types of food (fruit, veggies, grains, etc). I am fearful that I will gain all my weight back as most people that I have talked to said that is what typically happens. Any suggestions on what I can do to prevent a sudden increase in weight but making the healthy transisition from low carb? Thank You!
How long must i wait before i see results on low carb!!!? Ok.... Ive been low carbing for approx. 3 weeks and getting very discouraged. I have made absolutely no progress that i can tell. I have not stepped on the scale because of fear and my clothes still fit the same. Im on the verge of giving up becuase of this. I have began cardio 1 hr daily, and have cut out breads, pasta, rice, potatoes, regular sodas, and sweets (all the things i love). I am also drinking plenty of water. I am looking for any suggestions/solutions at this point. I desperately need to lose 30 lbs by october 5.
Do high protein, low carb diets work? I am wondering if anyone has had success, how much you lost and how long it took. I will do the diet and will be working out daily. I need to lose weight fast and this seems like the best solution. thanks

Any other solutions that will work as well as low carb? I recently started the low carb diet. I've been doing it for about 7 months and ive lost fifty pounds. It's really worked for me. I'm 16 I currently way roughly 200 pounds and I'm 5ft 7inces. I'm concerned about the lack of fruit in my diet, as well as calcium. I play volleybal and do shot and discuss. I also ecently added some home workouts into the picture. (ab lounge and exercise ball) I would like to lose about 40 more pounds. Another thing that concerns me is that I'm loosing a lot of hair, but I dont know if thats due to my diet or because my hair is longer then its ever been and im not taking care of it right. If you could help me, I would appreciate it!!!! (p.s. no negative comments please)

Lower-carb diet and sleepiness? (I also posted this in Diet & Fitness, but would appreciate advice from other diabetics too) I recently started reducing my carbs to help me lose a few pounds and better control my blood glucose; I'm a Type 1 diabetic. I'm not doing extreme Atkins, just trying to stay between 100-130 per day. But I've been so sleepy and lethargic since I've started it. I feel like I constantly need a nap! Is this normal? Is it something I'll get used to, or is there a solution? I'm 41 and in otherwise good health. Weight Watchers helped me lose a few pounds but then I was stuck at a plateau. I've lost another 4 lbs. with the lower carbs. And my blood glucose is much more stable, so I'd like to try to make it work.
Is cheese bad for us?And is this so called myth, really a myth? Q1- Is cheese bad for us?I mean, is it too fatty adn should it be avoided...how much cheddar cheese is OK to eat per week? Q2 I read this somewhere: "People have massively switched to low fat diets during the last 30 years. However obesity has increased. What’s wrong? I’ll tell you what’s wrong. Fat doesn’t make you fat. What makes you fat is: * lack of exercise * stress * genetics * excessive caloric intake It’s pretty simple: the less fat you give your body, the more it wants to store it. The solution? Switch to a high fat/high protein/low carb diet. It will turn your body into a fat burning machine vs. a fat storing machine." Is this true. If yes, so is cheese NOT bad for us?? i'm really confused!!!
My moped won't start, I've cleaned the carb, but no luck? I have a two stroke geely moped, 50cc, and I've cleaned out the carb, jets, fuel line, intake, gapped and changed the plug, checked the spark, and it won't idle. If I were to hold down the throttle, at high rpms, it will run fine, but at the low rpms, it will just die. If you need a few more details, email me at scarm10@yahoo.com to answer my question a little better. First solution that works gets the best answer!
What am I doing wrong? I'm 24 yrs old. 5 ft. 2 inches 115 llbs. I go to the gym about 5-6 times a week. I have a pretty good consistant work out routine. Includes lots of cardio, weights, a variety of different machines, ab workouts. I don't eat fast food. I eat a healthy low carb diet that includes lots of veggies, fruits, lean meats, minimal bread. I drink plenty or water. (all of this for about 4 months straight. I've lost 10 lbs so far) But I just can't seem to get rid of this little bit of fat around my tummy and love handles. It's starting to get really frustrating that I can't get rid ot it! What am I doing wrong? Has anyone else had this problem and found the solution? (I would say it's about an inch of fat.)
Loose tummy? I have lost 35 lbs on a low carb diet over 10 months. I still have about 20 lbs to go (I lose weight very slowly). I love the low carb life way of eating as I feel great and have tons of energy and my physician has found no negative effects. I work out about 20 min every morn w/crunches, push ups etc. and fit in cardio when I can. My tummy is staying so flabby :-( I am having a hard time loosing the last belly fat and am worried that my skin won't tighten up as well. Has anyone had this problem and did you find a solution? Also, if anyone knows how to kick start my low carb weight loss a bit I would appreciate any input.
Type 2's...does your doc make insulin sound like "a last resort"? I'm a Type 1, insulin dependent for 24 years and pumping for 5. I constantly see postings from Type 2's saying their BG's are regularly in the 300's and 400's despite taking oral meds and watching their carbs. My question is, why aren't your doctors recommending insulin? Are they making it sound like supplementing with insulin is "failure" or "a last resort", as I've heard some GP docs say? Don't they realize that insulin can give many Type 2's more freedom and much better blood glucose? (especially with pumps being increasingly used with Type 2's) Using needles is an adjustment, but it's sad to see people struggling with ultra-low-carb diets and still not being in control when there is a solution out there that would work well for many of them. I just don't get it...what is their reluctance? I mean, it's great for those whose bodies respond to diet/exercise or oral meds, because they can take advantage of their natural insulin regulation response, but when it doesn't work, why fear something that could be so much help?
I am 13 years old and would like to loose some wait. please help? Hi, i am 5 foot 1 in and i am 117 Ibs. i am not over weight, but i defenatly have some excess fat i want to get rid of, i have lost about 8Ibs since july, but thats just from watching wat i eat from time to time. i want to know what i can do to loose 10 pounds reletivly fast. i know dieting is not a quick fix solution, but i have seen people loose 7 Ibs in 5 days on a low-carb diet. please help! thanks =)
I've decided to start an extreme weight loss program...how does my plan sound? I'm 6'3", around 235 (I'll know for sure tomorrow at the gym). I'm not stuck on numbers, but I'm guessing I'll need to lose at least 75 lbs before I'm satisfied. My main goals are to lose my broad shoulders and chest. I know that some guys with they were bigger, but that means nothing to me. I really don't care what other people find attractive, and I'm not interested in any of the women who want some big strong man to protect them. As my pic will demonstrate, I have a very long way to go. As far as diet is concerned, my plan is to stick to low-carb, low-fat, and not to eat until one hour after my stomach starts to rumble. I find a lot of times I eat just as an excuse - because I'm bored or because it's a certain time of day or because I feel like it - and I'm interested to see how much I would eat per day if I only ate when I was really, truly hungry. I don't have some strict timeline to lose this much weight...I'm presuming it will take me till summer to lose it all. As for exercise, I'm going to stick to only cardio. I'm asking for new running shoes for Christmas since the cheap ones I bought give me blisters if I run too much, so until then, it will be 20 min on the treadmill, 20 on the Stairmaster, and 20 on the elliptical, seven days a week. http://i385.photobucket.com/albums/oo296/curseofdolkite/atfalls.jpg Oh, postscript: do NOT post ads for Acai berry, Wu-Yi tea, or any other fad diet or magic cure. This site is rife with you people and trust me, whatever solution I end up going with is not going to include investing in some dumb miracle cure. I have worked in the corporate offices of an Herbalife-style fad diet company, so I'm well aware of how they prey on insecure and desperate people. Thanks. Simeon - Thanks...while I did warn people against posting links, I do check out each one to make sure I don't report anyone simply for directing me to diet info. Mitch - Thanks...however, I don't want to look muscular...that's why I chose to lose so much weight. Just in case anyone says this....I tried personal trainers. i'm in no position to hire one anyway (and I don't need one), but they just told me I was crazy to want to lose so much weight and to "take advantage" of my size....in other words, they misunderstood me. I know I'm not obese (moderately overweight at best), but I want to appear smaller. My problem is not my stomach, but my upper body...broad shoulders and chest. Okay, maybe "extreme weight loss" was a bad term to use. I'm not saying "I need to lose seven pounds a week" or "I need to lose 40 lbs by New Year's" or anything like that. I meant "extreme" as in "losing a lot of weight", not "losing a lot of weight in an unrealistic time span." PLEASE read my full question. I don't think I'm hugely obese. As nice as it is for people to say, I don't care if others think it's great for a guy to have broad shoulders and a big chest....I hate it and that's why I want to lose an inordinate amount of weight. I'm aware of the effect of multiple meals on metabolism, and if I were simply trying to get in shape, that's what I would be doing. However, my goal is to get as thin as I can, not to build muscle or simply get in shape.
i dont understand my problem...is it insulin resistance? I was diaganosed with PCOS (facial hair, cystic ovaries, weight gain in middle) I have very low blood sugar level after carb meal (feel shaky, week) Weight in middle. However, my fasting blood is normal all other tests liver, kidney, thyriod, blood etc are normal. My doctors dont beleive that i have insulin resistance and dont take it seriously. If you think i have than what should I do. Please give me practical solutions and if you have recoverd form insulin resistance, please let me know the tips. I try low carb and excercise. Any home remedy, any other way???? please help
please help me get rid of this mess!!!? i am 14, and i am a vegan. i walk for 30 min before breakfast, then i eat about 500 calories worth of high protein soy cereal, and soy milk. i go to school, and eat a veggie pattie, an apple, and apple scauce. i come home, and walk for 45 minuites, then eat a dinner of vegetables, and ride my bike. and i still have this little pouch of fat around my belly button, and a little love handles too. looking at me, youd think i was 5'7, and skinny. in reality, i am 138-140lbs, and i have been dieting and exiercizing for 3 years. once i went litterally anorexic, and dropped to 108lbs, but this stubborn little bit of fat was still there. the doctor told me i was loosing too much weight, so i shot back up. ive tried low carb, but it is so difficult to do as a vegan.what on earth can i do??????? please give me some real solutions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Motorcycle idle speed? My 1991 Kawasaki Vulcan idles low for a few seconds then stalls out after i turn the choke off. I cleaned the fuel filter, air filters, checked the spark plugs and all are fine. This just started happening recently, but since I bought the bike several years ago, it has always backfired, and the previous owner did carb work. If I had to guess the problem I would think the fuel air mixture is too lean, or the carbs are dirty. After I do a compressoin test to rule out engine problems, if I just adjust the idle speen knob will this be a permenant solution or will it eventually cause engine damage if I don't fix the carb's fuel air mixture? I'm looking for a solution that doesn't invovle me messing with the carburetors.
1983 chevy 350... its turning but wont start help? i have a 1983 chevy 350 and its turning but wont start the fuel is pumping and going to the carb ive tested to see if there is spark and there is spark ive tried pouring some gas into the carb and starting it and still wont fire the motor is turing over but not at full speed ... the battery is all good and the battery connections are good... i did have the motor apart and replaced all the gaskets on the top part of the motor ..(heads,exhaust,air intake, valve covers gasket) I numbered the plugs and there all in the right place ive tried 2 starters both work fine and are good and it did the same for both starters...so why won't the truck fire up?!?! nope i used the correct tourque and did it all in the correct order and i started off at a low tourque did it all in order and worked my way up to the correct tourque.. and the starter is fine .. but no i have not checked the alternator, but i thought a vehicle could run without one just not last very long.. well im working on it in my auto class at school so i do have a mechanic teacher there helping me just that there like 3 or 4 other vehcles being worked on so i thought if i could find a solution i wouldnt have to wait for him all the time and start workin on it right away and get it done!
Can anyone give me some pointers or solutions to help start my boat's engine? Its been neglected for months...? I have a 223hp mercruiser V-6 vortex I/O engine....it was dry docked for approx 9 months. Over that time it was subject to some elements (a few t storms, but mostly dry weather) that blew the boat cover off but never disturbed the engine compartment....I had to replace the battery, and added new fuel. all the appropriate fluid levels are to spec...problem is the boat wont turn over...Prior to last August when I docked the the boat, it turned over instantly, time and time again. I put some muffs w/ water on the lower unit, but that does not seem to be the problem....I can hear the fuel pump and all the elecs. seem to be in order. Is it just that its been a while between starts? can I choke the carb in order to shock the engine back to life like an automobile? It sounds like any sat motor that needs a good blast of quick start, but I am limited in marine engines (none.) Any help would be most appreciated!
