- Buy frozen veggies...they are healthier than fresh (since they are frozen at their peak freshness) and are 1/3 the price. Kroger sells them for $1/package. Buy low fat meats such as chicken breast and turkey and lean beef on sale. Buy only 100% whole grain pasta and rice. Also...don't buy anything you do not need...no junk food or anything else...that's where all your extra money goes. Finally, buy only the amount of food you need for two weeks at a time...no more! I can feed myself all month for $100-$120 with a full and healthy diet.
