Im trying a low carb diet, but cant think of any breakfast ideas?
i need an idea for a low carb breakfast but I am not a good cooker. I know how to make eggs though, but what can i make them with? I hate bacon and I need something on the healthier side. Anybody has any good recipes for a low carb diet? Also, how many boiled eggs can I eat for breakfast?

I do not always recommend low carb diet for anyone especially during breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the portion can be large only if you are not planning to eat a lot during lunch and dinner. The reason why I do not recommend low carb it is because you are basically putting your body on fasting and it does no good but harm to your cells and brain. If you want to have a low carb breakfast, you should do it during lunch or dinner. Remember this, carb is better than fat or protein diet. If you want a high nutrient density breakfast, you may do the following: -- Bacon is high in saturated fat and cholesterol so you must AVOID. (EVEN turkey and other type of bacon because they uses substitutes substances to replace fat- which is bad- heart diseases.) -- If you want to make eggs, do it with egg eater (the one with no fat and cholesterol) and make scramble eggs for breakfast (for proteins and b vitamins). This way you can eat them everyday in a serving size. -- For vitamins, potassium, magnesium, calcium, you can always go for fortified orange juice, vegetables, fruits, and skim milk. Get 5-10 minutes UV light a day for vitamin D so it can enhance the resorption of calcium in blood and bones. -- 100% Fruit juices are better than high fructose corn syrups drinks like soda and other fake brands juices. -- Eat your wheat food like whole grain or granola for polyunsaturated fatty acid. (good for heart) -- have some fresh fruits and vegetable, NOT CANNED ONE. -- limited salt and oil intake. Breakfast is the MOST important so you have to consume more on micro- and macronutrient foods. Overall, you just have to remember this one thing. Doesn't matter what kind of diet you are in to, if you exceed the calories you need for the day, you will gain fat/weight. Good Luck.
- Well, it is also important to keep fiber intake up. I am doing well eating fruit in the morning. It's quick and I can take off and feel fine until lunch. Onions are under-rated in nutritional value, they are very healthy and are infections fighters. I also make an omelet. I first put some butter in a pan and saute onions. If I have some green pepper, I put some of that in too. I put that in the omelet and have a feast. I've heard it said: Eat like a king at breakfast Eat like a prince at lunch Eat like a pauper at dinner I think there's something to that. I watch carbs not calories. I've found that more effective than watching calories. Cut carbs and you feel better period.

- Hello Marilyn, Here are some ideas. You can replace bacon with with sliced tukey. There are many different kinds that you can use. Boar's Head makes a variety of sliced turkey products. Also, you could use sliced ham. As someone else has mentioned there are also quick and easy sausages that you can make. Of course, the turkey is the healthiest amongst the list. And don t forget, you are also allowed cheese on a low carb diet, so you can alternate with different cheeses to mix it up. Someone has mentioned fruit juice, and someone else has mentioned mixed fruit. Depending on your daily carb intake, you might not want to do that. Of course, eggs, can be tiring. Atkin's advantage makes delicious breakfast shakes in about 4 different flavors which are perfect for low carb diet's. They also make low carb pancake mix, low carb cinnamon rolls, and a variety of low carb bars, that would be good for breakfast. To drink, teas are good.. You can alternate with different herbal teas, and also water or seltzer is good with a little bit of lemon, and there is also a company called "Carb Countdown" that makes milk, and even chocolate milk that is low carb. It is carried in a lot of grocery stores. Another thing that might go good with your breakfast, is Entenman's makes all kinds of low carb cakes such as crumb cakes.. Hope this helps..
