I started a low carb diet, and I'm craving Mexican food (tortillas mostly) and chocolate, please help!?
I'm on a diet that allows 20 or less carbs a day. The first part of my question is, someone told me you could loose a pound a day, but I keep reading about people who don't loose more than 6 pounds in a month. Is that true? Secondly, I'm craving chocolate and carnitas (those pork dishes on tortillas). (NOT TOGETHER, OF COURSE... chocolate wouldn't be terrific with pork). Is there any no/low carb solutions for these?

- Losing a pound a day is possible but it's not really the healthiest thing to do. 1-2 pounds per week is the average and it is far healthier to take your time. 10 pounds per month is excellent, but you should be pleased with any weight loss. Remember it's not about being thinner, it's about being healthier. chocolate and carnitas are not good for any diet but treating yourself to a small amount now and then is ok. Depriving yourself completely of something you are craving can cause binging. There are low carb chocolates and atkins tortillas if that helps.
- Just eat the meat out of it after you take one bite of the tortilla from each one you get As for Chocolate just eat a dark chocolate or have some yogurt w/ chocolate in it because the calcium in the ice cream yogurt is actually good for you or you could have that as your splurge then go for a 3 plus mile walk after you induldge on the craving Also, after you eat drink water You could do the Master Cleanse if you want to detox your body for better results on your weight loss Google the master cleanse diet and choose the recipe that sounds the easiest to do but what I do because I have to eat at least a little is I only eat raw foods when I do the cleanse ~ I will have lettuce, tomato's, apples, tangerines, blueberries and watermelon ~ tuna for protein or some sort of boiled chicken w/ a green veggie but I do the master cleanse nightly The drink doesn't taste mad ~ it speeds up your metabolism and flushes out toxins then you can loose weight much more quickly You need to not worry about lb loss but inches that you loose is more important so go purchase a tape measure in the sewing section (laundry aisle) at your local grocery store and measure your body sections ~ write it down and then check it as often as you would like w/out becoming to obsessed of course Also, if you journal your food intake then this will help you as well Good Luck
- Kristen, I hear you! I love Mexican food too. I was SO thrilled when I found Mission Low Carb Tortillas. I've included a link to my review of them. I use them all the time and really love them. You can fill one up with beef or chicken, cheese, and other low carb toppings and still stay under 20 carbs. They have several sizes, so check the carbs in each one. Hope it helps!
